Currently the barn at Church Farm is housing 80 calves. They’ve been weaned, wormed and given their copper bonuses (deer are susceptible to copper deficiency). They'll stay in the barn another couple of weeks until they lose some of their flightiness. Once they’re more steady, Tom and Chloe will put them out into one of the grass-laden fields.
Tom says: “They're looking really strong. In the first couple of years, we had quite a range of sizes - about a dozen that were pretty small and scrawny, another dozen that were midway and other dozen that were on their way up to being quite sizeable. But this year - our sixth year in - they’re all pretty even, which is great.”
